TRY ME, credited to James Brown and his Famous Flames was originally released as KING in It was Brown's second album, and as with most of his non-live pre's albums, it contains previously released singles. Here it's some of his final Federal and later-to-be King sides/5(7).

During that time the Hammond B3 was a signature instrument (Jimmy Smith, Johnny Hammond Smith, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Shirley Scott, etc) on the jazz scene. I had no idea James Brown was fluent on the instrument. It doesn't have the same energy of James on the mic, but it does offer another side of this extraordinary, one of a kind, talent. Kamau Taplin/5(6).

James Brown: Plays James Brown Today & Yesterday (LP, Vinyl record album) - Funky instrumentals – with James on organ, grooving hard in a raw 60s R&B mode! If something is noteworthy, we try to note it in the comments — especially if it is an oddity that is the only wrong thing about the record.
